Podcast 1:
First Audio Podcast....Testing!! :)
Description: This is my very first podcast. Truly, a test to see how everything works and how to put it together.
Reflection: Being what it is...a test...I would say, it's a success! Everything was easy to use, and worked together seamlessly.
Podcast 2:
Dear Santa Reading
Description: This podcast is a group of students who are reading the book Dear Santa which they read in their small reading group over the previous week. The students were proud to share with the class, and were excited to hear themselves read the story.
Reflection: In general, I would say that the podcast was effective for kindergarten students. They enjoyed hearing themselves read, and were able to hear the fluency that they had practiced.
Podcast 3:
Days of the Week
Description: This podcast is a brief recording of the students singing a "days of the week" song in English and Spanish. This is part of their daily routine.
Reflection: Again, the students enjoy hearing themselves on the computer. I can see how this could become a valuable resource to share with parents or on our website for the students to visit and share with families on their own time. It is a challenge preparing the time to incorporate this, but as I become more proficient with the equipment and technology, it should become effortless. I don't know that the students at this level could work on it independently, but they do enjoy the end result.
Podcast 4:
One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish
Description: This is an "end of the year" read aloud, in which two students read One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish in order to monitor their fluency in reading.
Reflection: This really has become a valuable tool for my students to monitor their reading fluency. Again, I think the parents would enjoy hearing their own children, and perhaps this could become as second nature as our website has become. It could provide parents who are working and unable to come into the classroom a glimpse into what we do each day, and how the students are improving. I am amazed at the growth in the months past in listening to these. Practice makes perfect!
